Friederike Lüpke is a linguistic anthropologist and sociolinguist at the University of Helsinki. Her research focuses on multilingualism, literacy practices, and language ecologies in West Africa, with long-term fieldwork in Senegal. Her joint research with Jules Mansaly examines how rural speakers of small, locally confined languages engage with AI and digital technologies, and how existing tools can be adapted to serve multilingual communities at the margins of the digital language divide.
